NPP has destroyed the economy – Kwakye Ofosu

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, a former deputy minister of information, has advised Ghana's youth that they need the 24-hour economy concept put out by former President John Dramani Mahama.

According to him, the 24-hour economy will allow for economic growth and the creation of additional jobs for young people.

In a tweet, he said, “If you are a young person out there, the bottom line for you with @JDMahama ‘s 24hr economy proposal is that he wants to create room for an expansion of economic activity so you can secure a job after the NPP's destruction of the economy and severe limitation of fiscal space.”

Former President John Dramani Mahama, one of the proponents of the 24-hour economy proposal, stated that firms which adopt this approach will receive rewards.

He said that rather than being a mandate, the proposal would be a voluntary strategy for firms.

“I envision a 24-hour economy where  facilities, filling stations, manufacturers, construction companies, garbage collection companies,  and extractive industries, agro-processing,  harbors and ports, financial services, digital start-ups will operate a three-shift system 24/7 in an atmosphere of safety and .

“This  I propose will be voluntary, it will not be imposed. Businesses will be encouraged to sign up with tax incentives provided for them and enhanced  and lower  tariffs after peak hours.

Special meters will be deployed to provide what is known as time-of-use tariffs to deliver cheaper  to such businesses during the hours of especially 10 AM and 6AM,” he said while speaking to Catholic Bishops in Sunyani on Saturday, November 18.

He further said that the 24-hour economy is meant to create jobs for all Ghanaians.

“The 24-hour economy I proposed is for jobs and more jobs,” the flagbearer of the  (NDC) stressed.

At the beginning of his engagement with important stakeholders in his drive for power, on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, Mr. Mahama suggested the "24hr Economy" concept when he met with representatives of the nation's mother workers organization.

Known as the "Building Ghana Tour," the purpose of the meetings with the stakeholders was to inform them about the economic transformation plans that the next NDC administration would carry out.

"The National Democratic Party (NDC) was left standing as the only voice advocating for the voiceless Ghanaians and holding the government responsible. We were frequently dismissed as spoiled brats who were whining just because we were losing our power," he stated.

“Today, the chickens have come home to roost and we are all affected.”

With a production that consists mostly of thick baselines, snares, rim shots, and kick-drum patterns, Yaw Tog effortlessly carries on the collaborative effort he and Khendibeatz started on "Sore." Yaw's development is the only thing that has changed. With a catchy chorus and fun lyrics that explore the nightlife scene, his maturity as an artist elevates the song. He portrays himself as the leader of a nightlife spree with the boys, bantering about the good and bad of the scene and highlighting the pretenders and big spenders. "Tonight" veers away from his last Drill single, "Obra," which featured young rapper Roii from South Africa. Avai...
